As part of Deptford X Festival 2021, Artist and founder of The House of Parakeet Fredrix Vermin has flown the nest to work with Artist and Curator Luke Merryweather to place a rooftop installation on top of Art Hub Studios, Deptford. The pair have installed a series of text-based works visible from the DLR between Deptford Bridge and Greenwich, at street level on Creekside and across the water to our new High Rise neighbours on Greenwich High Road.
The work aims to deal with the problematic themes of national identity and the climate crises, highlighting the destructive nature of colonialism and the residual impact it has both culturally, politically and within globalised industry. In the face of recent events the installation intends to provide an uplifting space for thought devoid of advertising or political noise and bring people together to unify them in questioning, what’s next?
We are guilty, we are victims, we are responsible.
